My name is Christopher Copeland. I have many passions, wear a lot of hats and would have it no other way!
One aspect of my life, though, intensely influences everything else: I am a recovering alcoholic/addict.
I am also an artist, in many aspects of the word. Through my rehab and recovery, I’ve been fortunate to be able to use my abilities to help others, both in and out of recovery programs. I currently sponsor five people working through their steps or programs.
I try to have quarterly private art shows, to present my latest collections. My art is presently collected in more than 12 states.
I studied psychology at Arkansas State University, studied art in the Pacific Northwest at the Art Institute and studied wellness and arts at Bellevue College. This education has culminated in my being able to use art to help people work through the issues at the root of their addictions or unhappiness.
Most recently, I have acquired my art therapist certification. I’ve accepted a position as an art therapist at Palmetto Addiction Recovery Center in Rayville, La., where I rehabbed for 3 months in 2016. And, I provide one-on-one art therapy in my Arkansas studio.
I also travel for speaking engagements, which is very fulfilling for me. If I can help just one person out of a group of 5 or 500, I feel I have succeeded.
My blog elaborates more on my rehab and recovery, as well as my life as an artist and art therapist, and my gallery highlights my latest artwork.
